In India , there are many methods followed to improve the growth of hair, reduce hair fall and hair and scalp treatment which are purely herbal without any side effects.
Some specific methods which are still remembered by people of South India are given here. These are natural way to enhance hair growth. This method may be little time consuming and need patience, but will have long lasting improvement in the hair. Still in many parts of villages, these methods are followed.
- Take 20 number of 5-petal hibiscus. This flower is found in dark red colour. Make a paste of this flower. (Even the withered flower can also be used). Heat 1/2 a litre of coconut oil in a pan, add the flower paste in the oil and wait until the moisture is completely removed from the oil. Put off the stove and let the oil come to room temperature. Then filter the oil and store it in a container. This oil can be applied on the scalp and hair daily. If you can’t keep the oil the whole day, then apply the oil at night and wash your hair in the morning.
- Butter is also a good nutrient for the hair. Apply butter on the scalp and let it be on the hair for an hour. Then wash your hair as usual with a shampoo or shikakai. This can be done once a week to improve hair growth.
- Hibiscus leaves is another useful part of the hibiscus plant for the hair. Take fresh leaves and make a paste of it adding very little water. Apply this paste on the hair. Leave it on the hair for half an hour. Then wash your hairwith shampoo. This can also be done once a week. For this method, the hair must not be oily when applying the hibiscus leaves paste.
- Make paste out of few curry leaves(karivepilai) and shallots(Sambar onion or Chinna vengayam as commonly called in Tamilnadu). Apply the paste on the scalp, leave it for 30 minutes, then wash with your regularshampoo. This enhances hair growth and controls hair fall, also helps in growing black hair.
- One more method to prepare hair oil — Again comes the hibiscus flower + Kadukkai + Nellikai (Amla or Gooseberry). Take equal amount of all the ingredients and grind into paste. For 2 tablespoons of the paste , half a litre of coconut oil can be used. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add the paste. Simmer the stove and wait until the moisture is completely removed from the oil. Put off the stove, let the oil come to room temperature. Store it in a container and use this oil daily. This is a herbal hair oil which will improve the hair growth.
